"Does this mean you're betrothed?" Max asked worriedly. He had just started dating the girl, he didn't want to have to lose her!

"No, not betrothed. This is the complicated part." Jodi took a second to think about how to describe it. "Okay, this might make sense. For seven days I am going to have seven dates, it's a first come first serve basis on who signs up to be a candidate. At the end of the seven dates I have to choose which one I want to be my husband and that one will have one month to fall in love with me, propose, and marry. Does this make any sense at all?"

"It makes perfect sense," Max said, he wasn't as glum now because he realized what he would have to do. That just means that I had better be one of those first ones. "Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going to head up and start packing my suitcase. I'll see you guys upstairs."

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Come on you guys," Jodi said, motioning to everyone else. It was mass exodus from the table as they all left to go packing.

Bradley Uppercrust III moved from the shadowy corner of the coffee house and smiled maliciously as he watched the group leaving. This was just the opening that he needed. All he had heard was the girl say something about marrying her and ruling a country. "Well, gammas, it looks like we're going to Europe."

At the Dorm "I convinced Charlene to cover my shift so I can tag along with you guys, when do we have to leave?" Kara said, watching all of her friends throwing miscellaneous things into bags.

"Pretty soon would be my guess." Max said as he zipped his bag up. "I've already called my dad and had him leave an excuse with the school for us, so that's all settled. And Stacey is convincing her family to get the plane tickets."

"Stacey got the tickets, we leave in two hours.'' Jodi said as she drug her suitcase across the room before dropping it in the middle of the floor. "And I don't see why you all are so eager anyway. Personally, I don't want to go!"

"Wow, that was so consoling," Jodi said, not even attempting to mask her sarcasm. "I'm glad some people can see the glass half full."

Jodi glummly picked the bags up and made her way to the car, glancing behind herself at the small dorm she had shared with her friends. There was no way she'd get to come back to the comfort of here. She glanced again behind herself at Max who seemed to be intentionally not looking her way. For the first time in a long time she was happy and had the one thing she wanted, and now she was going to have to sit back while he watched her get married. Life really sucks when you're the potential ruler of a country...

Something about the passage of time always made it hard for Max to remember just how much he hated airplanes. Yet here he was on the worst trip of his life. He was sitting next to the girl of his dreams, who had her head on his shoulder completely unconscious, and he couldn't even enjoy it! If this doesn't work, this'll be the last time I get to have her this way... he thought sadly. He looked across the aisle to where Stacey and Bobby were sitting, Bobby completely unconscious it seemed, but Stacey awake and thumbing through a magazine. "Stacey," he hissed. "Stacey!"

Stacey pulled the earbud out of her ear, shutting the iPod down. She had been waiting for this conversation ever since the plane had lifted from the ground. "Yeah, Maxie?"

He wasn't even sure how to word all the thoughts running through his mind. He wasn't even sure if any of them even had logical words behind them. "I'm not sure what I'm asking, Stace," he said. "Do you think this is a good idea?"
